Grantham Operatic Society are a NODA award-winning amateur theatre company who have been active for over 60 years. We are based in the market town of Grantham in Lincolnshire.
Our main objective as a society is to bring together members of the community to have fun and perform our favourite shows to a high standard. We perform one musical theatre show each year at the Guildhall Arts Centre (during the week after Easter) and adding this second, more operatic based, production in the late summer is a new and very exciting development for us. Throughout the rest of the year we perform at smaller events as well as carol singing in the community at Christmas.

Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe in Concert
Award winning Grantham Operatic Society (GOS) are delighted to present a concert version of the comic operetta ‘Iolanthe’ by Gilbert and Sullivan.
Iolanthe, a fairy, commits the ultimate crime of marrying a human. Fast forward 20 years, and her half-human, half-fairy son now wishes to marry a human himself – but it’s a crime punishable by death.
Left with no choice, Iolanthe and the fairies set out to challenge this law…
Featuring a stunning score and brilliant comedy, join our feisty fairies as they take on the dim-witted peers of the realm and the British system of government.
Performed on Saturday 30th August 2025 only in the beautiful setting of St Wulfram’s Church, Grantham. There are two performances – a 2.30pm matinee and a 7.30pm evening performance.

Kiss Me Kate
It’s too darn hot…. GOS were delighted to present our Easter 2025 show, the classic Cole Porter musical comedy ‘Kiss Me Kate’ at the Guildhall this past April.
We were thrilled to be one of the first societies to be offered the rights to perform this musical following its successful West End revival.
